Astrotastic!
HI, I'M LAURA AND I PLAY THE BANJO

This blog may perhaps be only about science and astronomy... and Carl Sagan.

I aspire to be a scientist of some kind in the future, specifically an astrophysicist.

I am 16 years old.

This is a personal blog, so don't expect a constant stream of science/Sagan 24/7. I try to keep it consistent but occasionally diverge.

Thanks for visiting :D

So…

I just watched Wonders of the Universe.

and it blew my mind.

my reaction to Brian’s face in the centrifuge:

Brian simulates extreme gravity - Wonders of the Universe: Falling - BBC Two (by BBC)

Symphony of Science - The Quantum World

My 8th grade science teacher just told me how proud he is of me for knowing what entropy is

This is why I love Brian Cox...

  • Alan: Now where do you stand on things like Creationism if someone comes along and says like, well, dinosaurs didn't exist and...
  • Brian: Well that's just wrong.
  • Alan: What?
  • Brian: I mean, there's nothing you can say about it. It is actually bollocks.
  • Alan: *Laughing*
  • Brian: This is Young Earth Creationists who are people who think the world is 6000 years old. It just isn't. It is about 4.5 billion years old. The universe is 13.73 plus or minus 0.12 billion years old. We've measured it. This is not a comment on religion by the way it's a comment on a particular, in many people's view, mis-reading of religions. I'm not making any comment on religion at all I'm just saying that if you think the world is 6000 years old then you're not right.
