Professor Ron Ragsdale and Jeff Statler, U of Utah.

These are from the Faraday lecture that Professor Ragsdale gave on the day we graduated from our class. They weren’t kidding when they said they were going to wear tuxedos.

It was great. They did a bunch of demonstrations (like in all our lectures… except with tuxedos) which included cabbage acid-base indicator reactions, exploding bubbles of methane with a fire wand, burning magnesium in the presence of oxygen (and having my friend and me smell it when they expose it to water…. just don’t trust them) and breaking plastic balls when soaked in liquid nitrogen. It was a great ending to a great class, and I will really miss it!
